Slate Gray Gallery - Christopher Warren: Watershed Moments

Artist Christopher Warren is not a regular in the Slate Gray stable. However his work is on display at the gallery through March 19 as part of Telluride Gay Ski Week. And the artist will be in attendance for March Art Walk, 3/2, 5 - 8 p.m.

Christopher Warren is a gay artist known for his intricate depictions of topographic landscapes. Born and raised in Durango, Colorado, the rugged beauty of the surrounding mountains and desert canyons sparked his fascination with topography at a young age. Christopher's wall sculptures are a testament to his reverence for the natural world and his desire to represent its most captivating features in 3D form.

Through his playful, powerful work, Christopher invites viewers to immerse themselves in the intricate contours of the earth and contemplate the power and beauty of the natural world, reduced and yet magnified through color and form.

His images bring a new, eye-dazzling context to the waterways surrounding the region, all abstractions of the familiar drainages of Bear Creek, Cornet Creek, Prospect Creek, the discrete watersheds formed by the creeks pouring into the Telluride valley. The water that flows into the San Miguel River has carved the breathtaking landscapes that surround Telluride. This show pays homage to - and takes license with - that monumental force.
