Cairns are human-made piles or stacks of stones raised for a purpose, usually as a trail-marker to point you in the right direction. Nelson's cairns, like "Gabler 2442m," can be arranged in infinite configurations. The title refers to a mountain in the Dolomites and the elevation of a ski run that the artist once enjoyed there.
