Maggie Taylor

Through the Looking Glass Book
Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There
This newest edition of Lewis Carroll's classic text is accompanied by 64 of Maggie Taylor's images.

Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece, Through the Looking Glass, is brought to life in the stunning artwork of Maggie Taylor. Her prints incorporate photographic elements, scanned illustrations, sculptures, and artifacts pinned against timeless backgrounds. Her images—at once beautiful and menacing, real and surreal—create a visual counterpoint to Carroll’s writing style. She casts numerous individuals into the ever-changing roles and circumstances of the bewildered Alice, creating a complex, multi-faceted every-woman still easy to identify in each scene. This modern digital approach to a classic tale is a collaboration Carroll himself would have truly enjoyed.

Maggie Taylor is a digital artist who has exhibited her work throughout the United States and abroad. Her images are featured in Maggie Taylor's Landscape of Dreams and Solutions Beginning with A. Visit her website at maggietaylor.com.

Maggie Taylor’s imaginative and surreal images are created by utilizing a variety of imagery. She collects and “recycles” daguerreotype or tintype portraits of unknown subjects from the 19th century. Taylor then builds stories around her subjects by combining her own photographs along with scanned objects to create digital collages in Photoshop; using as many as 200 layers. More recently, she has experimented with using AI technology to source her imagery
