Fringe Gallery is excited to present the works of two accomplished Telluride artists in its June exhibition, "Passages in Time: Nancy B. Frank and Micheline Klagsbrun." Join us in the gallery to celebrate the exhibition opening on Thursday, June 4th, from 5 - 7pm. Both artists will be in attendance, and refreshments will be served.
Nancy B. Frank and Micheline Klagsbrun are neighbors and friends who have been supporting each other's artistic practices for years, but "Passages in Time" marks the first occurrence of their works exhibited side by side. In this duo exhibition, the visual language employed by each artist differs, but the common element that brings them together is time. Frank and Klagsbrun are both concerned with the traces left by time: weathered structures, worn surfaces, remembered histories, and emotional imprints that span generations.
Nancy B. Frank's "Earth Gems" series closely explores elements of nature, such as stones, grasses, and wood, whose textures are enhanced with the passage of time. Her paintings emerge from photographs; what begins as observation progresses through the material application of acrylic, cold wax, oil pastels, and more to recreate the remnants of natural histories which are deeply embedded into rocks, roots, and riverbeds.
Micheline Klagsbrun introduces a body of work she calls "Traversing the Silence," which is a continued exploration of transformation, memory, and the impermanence of forms. While using traditional materials such as acrylic, ink, and paper, Klagsbrun also incorporates bones, bark, and even snakeskin to create structures of passage, such as bridges, boats, and fences. These fragile crossings connect the past with the present and extend into the unknown.
"Passages in Time" invites viewers to consider their own passages: the personal transformations that shape identity, the structures that sustain us, and the ways memories, however fragmented, continue to guide us forward.
